What can you do with a folding chair? Most obviously, sit. A folding chair can be moved to the optimal spot, like in the shade, and a person can sit. Indoors, the best spot may be near the buffet table or the bar. For family gatherings, near the Christmas tree or bounce house. What ever the occasion and where ever the venue, a folding chair brings the relief of sitting down without having to sit on the floor. For those of us with bad knees, this is important.
Some people use a folding chair as an offensive weapon, a la Jerry Springer. A folding chair, held by the feet, can make a nice battering ram or whacker, if the object of your ire will stand still for it. Wrestlers seem to like the effect, for folding chairs are often used in their out-of-ring confrontations.
Two folding chairs and a blanket and you have a tent, suitable for playing in on a rainy day. Two chairs and a board placed across the seats and the space in between and you have a low buffet table or children’s work bench for arts and crafts. With more chairs and clothes pins, the tent can expand to hold more players.
A folding chair can be used as an outdoor folding chair, a folding camping chair or a folding beach chair. There are specially designed chairs for these situation, but the regular folding chair can be used in these situations as well if a little care is given to them after such use. Cleaning the chairs to remove dirt, sand and salt will prolong the life of the folding chair used outdoors, and leave it in good condition to be used indoors as well.
A folding table and chairs, often a card table and four folding chairs, are a handy addition to any household. The table and chairs can be used for games, as designed, or set up for additional seating at large family gatherings. The table and one or two of the folding chairs might be set up for the duration of a project that requires a flat surface, as long as the table top is covered to protect it from harm. Garage sales also benefit from having the extra table space for items to be sold, and providing a few chairs for some of the non-shoppers may allow the shoppers to stay longer and buy more stuff.
When you look for folding chairs, you need to take a couple of things into consideration. One is the amount of use they are expected to get and the cost you are willing to expend for that use. Do not buy the cheapest chairs available unless you are expecting a quick disposal. The cheap chairs are not as sturdy and the more expensive chairs and will not hold up under hard use (or big people). Buy for the long term and you will have the chairs and table for years, even decades.
