Executive chairs are those big, comfy chairs used behind the big desks in the important offices. Sometimes a less expensive version is given to peons in the corporate office. If you have one, consider yourself lucky. They are comfy, aren’t they? The back is tall enough you can rest your head and take a nap. Some corporations have these chairs in the board room, but the head resting thing might be a drawback in this case.
Why would you want an executive office chair at home? Well, for one thing they are comfy. If you spend a lot of time at a desk or table, this is an important point. If the floors are hard or the carpet very low nap, you can use one of these chairs with casters and still get in and out without difficulty. And did I mention that they are comfy?
Most executive office chairs come upholstered in leather, leatherette, suede, pseudo-suede, or other non-breathing material. Occasionally a version upholstered in real material is available. This covering will have to be got around some way, but other than that the chair is ready to go and be sat upon.
You can find these chairs at office supply mega-stores. Try all the ones available, and sit in each a little while. Play with the adjustments and see how easy it is to get the chair the way you want it. Find out if it is available in any color besides black. All executive office chairs come in black. Black may not fit your decor, but with something tossed over it to make it not stick to you, you won’t see much of the black anyway.
These chairs last a long time. If you can find someone redecorating and getting rid of the old chair because it doe not suit the new decor, take it. Chances are it has plenty of years left in it. Even after the leatherette cracks and the arm rest foam disintegrates, the chair will still be there. I know, because I have one like that. It looks like hell, but it still sits good. No doubt an upholsterer could take care of the problems, if we could live without it for the one to two weeks it would take to get it fixed. Maybe someday when one of us is in the hospital, or gone overseas.
A house with an executive chair and ottoman for each adult and folding chairs for anyone else is furnished, as far as seating is concerned. And far more flexibly than couches, settees and rocking chairs. Add a couple of folding tables and a wall mounted TV, and you are set for the public rooms. The chairs and tables can be easily moved to where they are needed, and folded against one wall when not needed, clearing the clutter. The life simple.
* * * There are many kinds of chairs that may solve your seating dilemma. Consider a folding outdoor chair, a cheap folding chair, a plastic stacking chair, a rocking chair, a folding chair, a stacking chair, a beach chair, a drafting chair, a task chair, a reception chair, or a stackable chair. * * *
