To be complete, a bath must not only have the usual porcelain fixtures, but it also needs storage. Towels not in use, beauty supplies and personal grooming items all need a place to live. Dirty clothes need a storage place until wash day. You may also keep bed sheets, blankets, plumbing repair equipment and cleaning supplies in the bathroom. Most of this should not be on display, but rather hidden in one or more bathroom storage options. So, lets consider what is available.
Built-in linen closet: If you are lucky, there is a built in linen closet. Here you can store luxury bedding, sheets, towels, perhaps blankets, heating pads and other personal items not used daily or weekly. Hopefully to bottom half has space for dirty clothes hampers, the plumbing repair equipment (like a plunger) and/or cleaning supplies.
Sink cabinet: Many bathrooms have the sink or sinks installed in an enclosed cabinet that provides drawers and cabinet spaces for storage. Extra paper products, hygiene materials, grooming items and beauty supplies probably reside in this feature. In addition, cleaning supplies may also find a place here.
Medicine cabinet: This usually a shallow cabinet hung on the wall over the sink(s) with mirrors for doors. Here grooming products, beauty supplies, and over the counter medicines are stored. Pills and capsules should not be stored here, as the ingredients of those are subject to deterioration by humidity and heat and the tops on these bottles are not air tight. Liquid medicines and tube medicines will be alright in the medicine cabinet, but pills and capsules should be kept somewhere else in your house.
Over the commode: In cases where storage in at a premium, some things may be stored over the commode. There are two options here: a pole and cabinet arrangement, or a cabinet mounted on the wall. Either way, things that will be ruined by falling in the commode should not be stored here. Things like extra paper products or towels are candidates for this storage space.
Shelving: Anywhere there is sufficient room, one or more shelves can be attached securely to the wall and used to hold either the minutia of daily life or a more decorative selection of towels, soaps and paper products. Things stored here must be impervious to humidity and heat, and not spoiled by dust accumulation.
Towel racks: These usually hold the towels in use. In addition, there may be guest towels or fingertip towels for visitors.
Under the towel racks: If the towel racks are hung high enough, there may be space under one or more for clothes hampers or other storage cabinets. A small rack may be placed here for company towels and soaps, or decorative elements.
In-tub corner shelves and shower-head hangers: There a number of small storage items made to be put inside the tub or shower to hold products in use.
So, from large to small, there are places to store a lot of things in a bathroom, with the right storage cabinets and equipment. Keeping in mind the moisture hazard, look at your bathroom and see if you need another bathroom storage option.
