What do you want in your garden shed?

OK, you have the shed installed and you are ready to move in. But first, you need to get some industrial shelving to store things on, and you need to decide where you are going to put the shelves and the mowing equipment, and where you can hang tools out of the way. And, if you are going to have a potting table, it needs to have light, and a stool to sit on would be nice. Where are you going to put the bagged mulch and potting soil, sand and fertilizer? And you need a place to store folding outdoor chairs.

Sounds like it is time to draw the shape of the shed and proportional pieces for the shelves, etc., and do some arranging on paper before working the spouse and children to discontent moving everything in the shed seven times.

Actually, this could have been a method to determine the size shed you needed. Hopefully, doing it now will not uncover the size of the shed is insufficient. But, get a plan, work with the lighting and tasks done in the shed, and then place the equipment used most often or most difficult to move closest to the door. Heavy materials should also be placed as close to the door as is possible while still keeping them out of the way.

And you’re done. Garden shed of the right size, with the best floor and construction materials,  with light, situated at the best spot on your property, to suit your needs and desires. Time to rest. Tomorrow we garden.
