What do you want in your garden shed?

Thinking about a new garden shed? Good. But before you leap, let’s look at the things you need to consider about both custom-built or prefabricated sheds.

  • community regulations about out buildings: if this step fails, none of the others are needed.
  • regulations about where sheds can be placed
  • placement of the shed if electricity is needed or desired
  • the floor of the shed: at grade or above
  • the composition of the floor of the shed: concrete, dirt, metal, wood?
  • custom built or prefabricated shed, within regulations
  • desired exterior, and maintenance
  • placement of windows and door of the shed, where they can be seen from the house
  • insulation requirements
  • size needed: make proportional pieces for the things you expect to keep in the shed, or want in the shed, and determine space requirements and possible floor plans
  • furniture like tables and folding outdoor chairs

This is almost as complicated as building a house. The only good thing is the scale is smaller, and the consequences of mistakes not as drastic. But, if you take your time to consider these points, you will end up getting or building a garden shed you can use and enjoy for many years. So, having made a few decisions and considered other factors, you are now ready to look for sheds for sale.

If you are looking to add a carport to your property, consider metal carport kits.
